Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) / Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Basic Police Medic Course (5-day)
ST/OPS Tactical Training Canada develops and delivers world class medical programmes. All our courses adhere to the recommended guidelines laid out by the Committee on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (Co-TECC) and the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (Co-TCCC). In addition, your members will benefit from lessons learned from our instructors’ operational military experience and how to apply them to the civilian world of tactical medicine.
This is a 40-hour course designed for the Police Medic. It encompasses all the same principles of the Tactical First Aid courses in greater detail with a greater number and more invasive interventions. It will take your existing medical knowledge, build on it from our operational experiences and bring it into your operational reality. All training can also be delivered in accordance with your organization’s Medical Protocols.
- EMR or equivalent
- Symptom Relief Management in accordance with your organization’s medical directives. ST/OPS Tactical Training Canada will directly consult with your Medical Director to ensure all topics are covered in the 5 days to meet the organization’s specific requirements.
- Introduction to Tactical Medicine
- Direct Threat Care, use of tourniquets
- Indirect Threat Care and introduction to the MARCHE algorithm
- A didactic lectures and skill stations for:
- Massive haemorrhage, wound packing and dressing
- Airway management, recovery position, manual methods, NPA, OPA, supraglottic airways, surgical airway
- Respirations, chest injuries, seals and burping and needle thoracostomy
- Circulation, shock recognition, pelvis and femur stabilization, IV/IO resuscitation
- Hypothermia prevention strategies, adjuncts and Head injuries
- Everything else, a head to toe secondary examination
- Patient packaging and evacuation prepping
- Prolonged care
- Burns
- Less than lethal interventions
- Equipment organization and considerations
- Lifts drags and carries
- Medical mission analysis and planning
- Mass Casualty Incident (MCI)
Two full days of scenarios putting the student in realistic situations pertinent to their daily duties using our patented human worn training devices, atmospherics, special effects and medically trained role players.
